Tees Cottage Education Centre
Appointed following a competitive tender Logic were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study for the creation of a new education resource centre within the grounds of Tees Cottage, a Victorian pumping station, an Ancient Scheduled Monument due to the significance of the surviving and working beam engine.
In recognition of the significance of the site a location was identified that would offer maximum exposure and use whilst also preserving the setting and views across the site.
A range of building concepts demonstrating different forms and materials were prepared and are currently under consideration by members.
By locating the building within site of the river, the engine and the tanks the story behind the need for a pumping station to serve the town can be demonstrated within one educational setting. Locating close to the miniature railway also creates further opportunity for there resource centre to be accessed as a new 'stop' on the railway for the wells supported open days that occur through the year.
