Outdoor Education Centre
Appointed by a special school, Logic have recently undertake a feasibility study to design an outdoor education centre set within a secure private wood to provide an educational resource centre to teach life skills in a secure controlled environment.
In response to the sites orientation and the schools desire to create the most sustainable building possible, a concept evolved that sought to follow Passivehaus design principles to maximise glazing to the south to benefit from passive solar gain whilst minimising glazing to the north to increase wall insulation.
A simple timber glulam structure is proposed that will provide support to a mono pitched roof housing solar photo voltaic panels whilst the oversailing roof also offers solar shading to the southern facade and external practical spaces.
