Bespoke House Leeds
Designed for the most discerning client of them all, Logic director Patrick Barrett project managed this ‘self build’ for himself within the garden of his existing house (an earlier self build). Located within the conservation area of Roundhay, Leeds Patrick worked tirelessly with the Local Planning Authority to secure approval for this 5 bedroom contemporary home.
Working with the constraints and opportunities of the site, Patrick designed the layout of the bespoke house to maximise the opportunity for natural light, allowing the open plan family living space to break the linear form of the house and extend into the garden whilst providing a balcony to the master bedroom above. Built on a tight budget of £90sqft (most self builds are £120-£130sqft) the house still managed to include a range of environmental and technological features including high performance heating, cinema room, CCTV, security automated blinds, and lighting all controlled from a smart phone. The house has created quite a stir in Roundhay and is regularly used by film crews and television programmes including most recently More 4’s Building the dream.
