Appointed by a retiring couple, Logic was approached to offer development advice on the prospect of gaining planning approval for a new dwelling within the garden of their existing house in the leafy suburb of Eaglescliffe near Yarm.
Whilst the very long but narrow garden of the existing house could comfortably divide into two plots, the east/west orientation presented a challenge to ensure all rooms of this new house would benefit from natural daylight. A design concept evolved that suggested an 'L' shaped house would enable the lounge, family dining, snug, kitchen and master bedroom to all benefit from a direct relationship with the garden and bring the ‘outside in’ and much closer to the main reception rooms.
The project was so successful that the commission led to the neighbour also requesting support to secure them planning approval also for a house on an even narrower plot.
